THE TOWN

Historic downtown Larkspur, incorporated in 1908, offers the ultimate Marin lifestyle with award- winning schools, great weather, amazing hiking and biking trails, popular restaurants like Picco and The Left Bank, wonderful coffee shops, cool stores plus the beloved newly renovated Lark Movie Theater.  It’s an easy commute to San Francisco and the East Bay. Larkspur is wide open to possibilities.

THE HISTORY

“122 Ward Street was one of the 5 houses built by Thorpe Wright in order for the town to qualify for a train station. Each of the houses was identical in architectural detailing and floor plan. 122 Ward Street was first owned by the Cazateaus who had a laundry business in San Rafael.  They sold the house in the 1900s, and the new owners hung a sign with the name “The Wigwam over the front porch which likely indicated ‘hanky panky’.

In 1939, the house’s past reputation was cleansed when Larkspur’s former police chief, Howard Clark, became its owner. The old iron fence can still be seen in the front of the house.  A 2- story addition was made in the rear and respects the front elevation of the house.”
